The members of the IFF Athletes’ Commission have put together a joint statement considering the International Weekends.

As the elected athletes of the International Floorball Federation Athletes’ Commission, we are deeply concerned about the way the official IFF’s international weekends are being handled in some countries. We strongly recommend that all National Associations follow the official international weekends’ calendar and do not schedule games during those.

Players are being put in uncomfortable and stressful situations, when their clubs are playing games, during their national team meetings and matches. It’s simply not acceptable to put us athletes in such situations.

Being part of the national team is a privilege and an honour for every athlete. It should never be in a way for National Associations’ season calendars. We’re concerned about the situation and we strongly support every athlete who is or will be a national team player in the future. The joy of singing the national anthem, and the uniqueness of every game and tournament is above and beyond and there should never be other interests coming in a way to experience this.

Regards,
IFF Athletes’ Commission

October Internationals Weekend will be played from 20th — 22nd October.
