The group stage in the Women’s World Floorball Championships 2023 concluded on Tuesday and Wednesday was spent with the play-offs. Thursday will be the day for first placement matches and quarter-finals.

Estonia won their play-off against Australia and USA did the same against France so we will have a Estonia vs USA re-match for 13th place. Australia and France will meet again to play for the 15th place.

Both play-off matches went to overtime on Wednesday having a similar end result. Norway were leading the match against Denmark until the very end, but Lina Voldby evened the game and scored a historical goal in extra time: Denmark beat Norway in the Women’s World Floorball Championships for the first time since 2007. Norway’s Rikke Hansen scored a hat-trick in the match and became the highest all time Norwegian Women’s point scorer with 73 points.

Germany were also leading their play-off match against Poland but Team Poland did not give up and fought until the very end. Katarzyna Rajska and Gabriela Wojcik equalised without goalkeeper and Rajska scored the golden goal in overtime.

Norway and Germany will face each other today, same for Singapore and Japan who both lost their matches yesterday and who will meet in the evening game.

Poland will challenge Finland in the first quarter-final and Sweden will take on Latvia in the second quarter-final.
