The transfer window activity continues! As more transfers have been confirmed, we take a look at another group of big international moves for the 2022/23 season including the two time Men’s World Champion Alexander Rudd and new ZUG United team-mates 2019 Women’s World Silver medalist Isabelle Gerig and Czech International Denisa Ratajova.

Men

2 time Men’s World Champion with Sweden, Alexander Rudd, returns to the top Swedish division, the Svenska Superligan with Gävle IK. Alexander won World Championships Gold with Sweden in 2012 and 2014 at only 20 and 22 years of age, alongside a silver medal in 2018 and is a supremely talented player, also winning a silver with Sweden as part of their 2011 U19 team. Gävle GIK, stated that with this signing they wanted “to show with this investment that we will now seriously try to challenge all teams in the SSL” and they will be looking to their new signing to inspire them both in the regular seasons and playoffs.

2021 U19 World Champion Petr Majer makes the move from his home nation of Czech Republic and Czech team Chodov to Finnish side Westend Indians. Petr had a standout 2021/22 season with Chodov getting 59 points in only 26 regular season games, impressing and building on his reputation as one of the brightest young stars to come out of the Czech floorball program in recent years and will look to further develop his skills in the F-Liiga. Petr also made his full senior debut for the Czech national team at the 2022 WFCQ event in Celano, Italy earlier this year.

Women

Denisa Kotzurova is an established Czech international with the Women’s team having represented them at the previous two Women’s World Championships in 2019 and 2021, achieving 4th position at both events. Denisa moved to Sweden to play with Malmo after a standout 2020/21 season in which she got a crazy 66 points in only 22 games during the regular season with Ostrava. She rejoins her old side Ostrava who are just fresh off winning the Women’s Superfinale Extraligy in 2021/22. With the reinforcement of Denisa, Ostrava will be looking for back to back Czech League championships.

Two international players move from the Swedish League to become teammates at Swiss side ZUG United. Czech International Denisa Ratajova recently played for SSL side Pixbo Wallenstam who narrowly lost the 2021/22 Svenska Superligan Women final 5-4 to Thorengruppen. Even though Denisa scored two goals in the final the 5 goals conceded were too much for her and Pixbo Wallenstam to overcome. She will now take her talents to ZUG in the Swiss Women’s NLA. Denisa is a 4 time participant in the Women’s World Championships with the Czech Republic having represented them in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021 achieving 4th position in every year and was also part of the All Star team at the 2019 World Championships.

Her teammate for the upcoming season at ZUG will be Swiss International Isabelle Gerig who was part of the infamous “Miracle of Neuchâtel” semi final match against the Czech Republic at the 2019 Women’s World Championships in Switzerland. The Swiss won a silver in 2019 and almost beat Sweden in the final in a tense match that went to overtime. Isabelle has a been a core part of the national side for a while now and moves from Swedish side Endre where she got herself 33 points during 24 regular season games in a highly competitive Women’s SSL. ZUG United are hoping that with the addition of two quality players they can push for the NLA title this upcoming season.
