The transfer window activity continues! As more transfers have been confirmed, we take a look at another group of big international moves for the 2022/23 season including 2020 Men’s World Champion Robin Nilsberth.

Men

2020 World Champion with Sweden, Robin Nilsberth has moved from Swedish club Storvretta to ZUG in the Swiss NLA. Nilsberth is 3 time World Champion with Sweden (2012, 2014 and 2020) and also a 2 time Silver medalist (2016, 2018) alongside the 2017 World Games gold medal. He brings a wealth of talent, experience and passion for the game to the Swiss side who will be looking to challenge for the title. ZUG reached semi finals of the playoffs last season and will look to go even further this season.

Former Swedish international Jonathan Nilsson follows Nilsberth in moving from the Swedish Superligan to the Swiss NLA by transferring from FC Helsingborg to HC Rychenberg Winterthur. Nilsson was captain and one of the main players at Helsingborg and moves to Switzerland for a “new challenge” after scoring 212 goals and 78 assists in 247 regular season games in the Swedish Superligan for Helsingborg, making him an extremely productive player for Rychenberg Winterthur to acquire.

Women

Finnish sisters Hanna and Emmi Niemela return to their homeland with both moving from Unihockey Berner Oberland to Finnish side SS Rankat Ankat who play in the top league of floorball in Finland, the women’s F-Liiga, alongside their Swiss teammates.

Hanna and Emmi Niemela are sisters with Hanna most recently representing Finland at the 2021 Women’s World Championships in Uppsala where Finland achieved the silver medal. Emmi represented Finland at the 2013 Women’s World Championships where she also achieved a silver medal. Hanna also achieved top scorer and MVP of the Swiss NLA in the previous 2021/22 season.

Team-mates of Hanna and Emmi Niemala are Flavia Niemala and Annique Meyer who also make the move over to SS Rankat Ankat of the F-Liiga from Berner Oberland. Meyer is a former Swiss U19 team member having been part of the 2018 Swiss U19 World Championship squad where they achieved 5th place. Flavia Niemela is a strong goalkeeper who was voted as best goalkeeper in the Swiss women’s NLA league for the previous 2021/22 season.
