The Netherlands and Slovenia are the last two teams to qualify for the Men’s U19 World Floorball Championships 2025. Now all 16 teams are set for the final round in Zurich, Switzerland from 29th April — 4th May 2025.
The Men’s U19 World Floorball Championships 2025 EUR2 Qualifications were held in Latisana, Italy from 29th January — 2nd February as six teams battled it out for the two spots in the final round. The Netherlands won all their five matches (3-2 against Ukraine, 4-2 against Slovenia, 2-1 against Austria, 8-3 against Italy and 9-4 against Great Britain). They secured their spot in the final round on Saturday in the evening match against the hosts Italy as they got their fourth win in the event. The team also made history as they became the first Dutch Men’s or Men’s U19 team to qualify for the WFC. The key players for the Dutch team were Gian Leuenberger who was the top scorer of the event with 21 points (9 goals and 12 assists) followed by his teammate Timo Schreppers who got 16 points (11 goals and 5 assists in four matches).
The week was a very successful one for the Dutch teams as also the Women’s Team qualified for the World Championships taking place in the end of the year in Brno and Ostrava in the Czech Republic.
Slovenia secured their spot on the final day as the last match of the event decided it all. Slovenia started their event by winning 7-4 against Austria but they lost 4-2 against the Netherlands on the following day. They continued their journey towards the final round ticket by beating Great Britain 9-2 but got a draw against Ukraine. Going to the final match of the event, Slovenia knew that they had to win by two or more goals against Italy so they could secure their spot in the U19 WFC. Final score 9-3 shows that they did a bit more than that. Tristan Bogataj was the top scorer of the Team and third best scorer of the event with 10 points (7 goals and 3 assists).
