Women’s 2025 World Floorball Championships Qualifications start with EUR1 in Valmiera, Latvia on Tuesday 28th January. Ten teams are divided into two groups of five – Sweden, Norway, Germany, Belgium and Austria are playing in Group A and Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Spain and Great Britain are playing in Group B.

Finland

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2025?

Skillful and energetic team that never gives up. You should expect to see many great goals, tough defensive play and great team spirit!

Players to watch

Who is your most dangerous attacker and why?

#28 Veera Kauppi is close to a perfect attacker. As an opponent you never know what she is going to do with the ball.

 

 

Who is your strongest defender and why?

#36 Jasmiina Järvinen is really strong and in a positive way nasty defender. She makes opponents feel really uncomfortable and does it with a smile.

 

 

Who is your toughest player and why?

#7 Yamou Njai never gives up nor takes any steps back. With her there is no free space available on our defensive zone.

 

 

Who is your face-off champion?

We are about to find out in this tournament. This title is up for grabs in our team.

 

Latvia

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2025?

We are a young and highly motivated team with a lot of offensive potential. Our main focus will be to qualify for the World Championships and to fight for the win in every game.

Who is your most dangerous attacker and why?

#41 Simona Grapena will make opponents scared to face her. She is very fast with lots of technique and very dangerous near the goal.

 

 

Who is your strongest defender and why?

Our strongest defender is #59 Evelina Garbare. She has a lot of high level experience and understands the game really well.

 

 

Who is your toughest player and why?

One of the toughest is #22 Zane Darša with a big desire to win every duel on the field.

 

 

 

Who is your face-off champion?

#16 Julija Rozīte is going to win most of the face-offs.

 

 

 

 

Estonia

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2025?

The Estonian women´s national floorball team is like lightning from a clear sky! But they strike the opponent´s goal more than once! They arrive on the field with a smile on their face, but are ready to blow up the opponent´s defence. Team’s secret weapon: Positive attitude!

Players to watch

Who is your most dangerous attacker and why?

#36 Piret Puidak – she has soft hands, sharp mind and she is very unpredictable on the field. Even her coaches can´t understand her game.

 

 

Who is your strongest defender and why?

#25 Reelika Liiv – she has everything that a good defender needs: first in the corners, last one standing on the field and never in the penalty box.

 

 

Who is your toughest player and why?

#16 Reti Väärt – very fast player and she has a “never quit” mentality. She will do everything for two things: her team and chocolate!

 

 

Who is your face-off champion?

#22 Kati Kütisaar – the only reason why she is in our team.

 

 

 

 

Spain

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2025?

A team with both experienced and young players who will give their all to show their A game in Latvia.

Who is your most dangerous attacker and why?

#13 Astrid Olson – she has great control of the stick and is able to take a good shot, fast and precise.

 

 

Who is your strongest defender and why?

#96 Clara Larnaudie – she is a defender with great game vision, strong and quick in decision-making.

 

 

Who is your toughest player and why?

#4 Elena Muiño – a player with great physical and mental strength. A wall for any opponent.

 

 

 

Who is your face-off champion?

#3 Nieves Ballesteros – she knows all the tricks to win the ball in any face-off.

 

 

 

 

Great Britain

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2025?

We are expecting our team to show how it has progressed over the last 2 years! There are some tough matches to come, but we are expecting to compete strongly in all situations.

Who is your most dangerous attacker and why?

#29 Rebecca Gmünder is a skilful and hardworking attacker, who is equally adept at scoring and setting up her teammate.

 

 

Who is your strongest defender and why?

#7 Christine Allenspach is an intelligent defensive player, who can also be relied upon to launch attacking situations.

 

 

Who is your toughest player and why?

Team Captain #4 Megan Geddes works hard and is not afraid to be involved in the physical battle.
