Only Swedish and Czech club teams continue to the Champions Cup semi-finals on the Women’s side. The defending champions Thorengruppen are still in as are the runner-ups Pixbo IBK. From the Czech side 1. SC Vitkovice and Florbal Chodov are battling for the spot in the final.
The semi-finals are played with the home and away concept, just like the quarterfinals. In the women’s semi-finals, 1. SC Vitkovice will meet Thorengruppen and Pixbo will be taking on Chodov.
1.SC Vitkovice
Vitkovice met Zug United in the quarter-finals and with two wins, qualified for the Champions Cup semi-finals.
Vitkovice are fourth in the Extraliga table with 18 points. They have won 6 matches and lost two. Vitkovice have met the leaders Chodov once and won the match 7-5 but they have lost against FBC Ostrava and Tatran Stresovice.
Vitkovice goalies are leading the statistics with most saves. Nikola Příleská has the best percentage, 89,39% while Viktorie Karasová is fourth with 84,06%. Vendula Maroszová is the top points scorer of the team with 13 points (7+6). In the Champions Cup they are up against an ultimate challenge. Can they beat the defending Swedish champions and continue to the final?
Thorengruppen IBK
Thorengruppen gave no chances for Classic in the quarterfinals and won both games against the Finnish club team clearly. Oona Kauppi gathered most points during quarter-finals: 5 goals and 2 assists in two matches.
The team is dominating the SSL, just like in previous years. They are leading the table after 9 matches with 27 points and have won all their games so far. Veera Kauppi is the current top scorer and top points scorer of the league with a total of 34 points (21+13). Maja Viström is fifth in the overall statistics with 21 points (13+8) and Oona Kauppi 7th with 21 points (5+16).
Pixbo IBK
Just like in the previous edition of the Champions Cup, also this year Pixbo met TPS in the quarterfinal stage. TPS did not manage to get their revenge and Pixbo continued to the semi-final stage.
Pixbo are second in the SSL table and have lost only one game, their match against Thorengruppen 6-7. Their top scorer in the league is Mira Markström, who played astonishing U19 World Championships in May and joined the team this season. Markström has scored 18 goals and assisted 11. Pixbo will play one more league game before their Champions Cup semi-final as they meet Warberg on Thursday evening.
Florbal Chodov
Chodov won both quarterfinal matches against Kloten-Dietlikon Jets and advanced to the semi-finals. Looks like their return to the Champions Cup got a great start!
Chodov are leading the Extraliga table with 22 points and 7 wins. Chodov have lost two matches, one against the Tatran Stresovice after penalty shootout and one against Vitkovice. In the league Chodov have scored a total of 72 goals so far in the season. Lucie Baldreichová is sixth in the overall statistics with 14 points (7+7) and she was also the top scorer from Chodov during quarterfinals with three goals in two matches.
