The International World Games Association (IWGA) recently announced the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of Czechia (COC), Italy (CONI) and the Netherlands (NOC*NSF).

These strategic collaborations aim to strengthen ties between the IWGA and the respective NOCs, promote The World Games, and provide greater support to participating athletes in the lead-up to the next edition of The World Games to be hosted in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. These MoUs mark a significant step forward in the IWGA’s ongoing mission to foster international partnerships that benefit athletes and enhance the visibility of The World Games brand across all five continents.

Through these partnerships, the IWGA and the NOCs will work closely to coordinate athlete support, facilitate knowledge-sharing, and boost awareness campaigns that highlight the unique value of The World Games in the global sporting community. Something that can only be of a benefit for the Czech Olympic Committee and Czech Floorball.

“The fact that the Czech Olympic Committee oversees the delegation for The World Games developed gradually. Initially, there was a joint effort by non-Olympic sports to have the NOC support this event at least formally. Gradually, this effort succeeded, and now the NOC manages the delegation organizationally, materially, and even supports the federations financially. The signing of the memorandum between the IWGA and the Czech Olympic Committee is the culmination of these efforts, ensuring that the cooperation will continue in the future. I am pleased that more and more national Olympic committees are establishing cooperation with the World Games,” commented Filip Šuman, Vice President of the Czech Olympic Committee, on the signing of the memorandum.

For Czech Floorball it is an opportunity for the future, something Tomáš Frank, General Secretary of Czech Floorball sees only as a benefit;

“In the past, the Czech sports public was not familiar with The World Games at all, and therefore, we put a lot of effort into promoting them. I am very glad that now the memorandum of understanding between The IWGA and the Czech Olympic Committee has been signed. Our representatives can be part of a large delegation with other sports, cheer each other on, and experience a partially Olympic atmosphere,”
