This July in Lviv, a charity floorball camp took place helping locals in the West of Ukraine. The Happy Goalie Camp and Player Camp successfully took place in Lviv, Ukraine where a total of 25 participants joined: 13 players, 9 goalkeepers, and 3 coaches from 8 different clubs.
It was an intense day with training in split groups as well as together, with a lot of new knowledge, skills, and drills. Overall, it was a great experience for those attending and helped provide further hope and joy to a region that is still trying to rebuild and get back to “daily life” despite the challenges faced on a daily basis by all those in Ukraine. Despite not being a majority sport in Ukraine there is a Floorball culture in certain areas and with further outreach programs, camps and training sessions complimenting a domestic league that is still running, should help keep the sport alive and growing in Ukraine.
The charity camp was lead by Goalie Jan Eckhardt and Player Jan Prochazka from the Czech Republic, who helped share their knowledge and experience to both kids and adults of all ages. Eckhardt is the founder of Happy Goalie Camp and has worked in several countries around the world in providing goalkeeper and skills knowledge to those especially in countries where the number of Floorball coaches are limited.
“We hope this knowledge will spread in our clubs and contribute to the development of floorball in Ukraine even further, inspiring more to play and to keep playing.” said the Ukrainian Floorball Federation – Українська Федерація Флорболу
The charity camp in Ukraine was supported by the City of Lviv and Oxdog with equipment and resources.
