Women's U19 WFC 2024 team presentations - Group C

The 11th Women’s U19 World Floorball Championships will take place from 8th – 12th May, 2024 in Lahti, Finland. Germany, New Zealand, Australia and Singapore play in Group C.

Germany

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during the U19 WFC 2024?

Our team is very young with a lot of players who will be eligible to play in the next World Championships as well. We have a lot of great talents in our team and a strong team spirit. Our goal is to win the group and get our spot back in the top 8.

Players to watch

Rookie or young player to look out for on your team and why?

#10 Nuria Guerbouj is a very talented defender who already has two years of experience in the highest German league, winning the German Cup and German Championship. She is a tough player with great technical skills and a strong shot from distance. She missed the last World Championships due to an injury and now is even more eager to show what she can do.

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

#59 Freya von Wangenheim is our Vice Captain and a leader on and off the field. She is a strong communicator and supports the team with her great saves. She is always goal-driven and motivated and helps the team reach its goals.

Most skillful player?

#91 Michelle Siedenberg is a dangerous attacker with amazing technical skills. She is fast and excels in 1 vs 1 situations. Also she has a great understanding of the game which helps her to score a lot.

Which player demonstrates #Fairfloorball the best and why?

#13 Pauline Könze is our Captain and demonstrates #FairFloorball the best. She is there for her teammates on and off the field, communicates a lot and supports the others where she can.

New Zealand

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during the U19 WFC 2024?

The majority of our team are from three clubs in the lower North Island of NZ. We work well together as a team, with everyone carrying the load. Our team focuses on team work and everyone playing their part on and off the field. We aim to improve our world ranking, but mostly to be proud of who we are and how we play.

Rookie or young player to look out for on your team and why?

#11 Cassey Busby – Cassey has plays a variety of sports which feed into her floorball. Cassey is quick to learn new techniques and quietly applies herself fully to the game. Cassey hasn’t been playing floorball long, so is one to watch the development of through the tournament.

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

#9 Isla Morgan – Has lovely team spirit both on and off court, she motivates players, and can lift spirits when things aren’t going great. Isla spends time with each player in the team listening and supporting.

Most skillful player?

#17 Frances Coup – Frankie is our most experienced player, and she is awesome at reading the game and looking for opportunities. Frankie is a strong defender and play maker.

Which player demonstrates #Fairfloorball the best and why?

#23 Kate Johnson – Kate is an amazing sports women, who gives 100% all the time, she plays hard but fair. Regardless of the score, Kate will be positive and encouraging.

Australia

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during the U19 WFC 2024?

Our team is a young team and the players represent a new generation of floorball players from Australia. Expect intensity and high tempo floorball from a team that never gives up.

Rookie or young player to look out for on your team and why?

#9 Matilda O’Connell – A hard working and gritty defender who has added an offensive flavour to her game in recent months.

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

#23 Millie Justice – A veteran from our 2022 campaign and always makes sure that the vibes amongst the team are positive.

Most skillful player?

#10 Katie Wright – A natural athlete with a will to win and an instinct to find the back of the net.

Which player demonstrates #Fairfloorball the best and why?

#67 Annika Hofman – Inclusive, supportive, and fair both on and off the court. All of her words and actions are considerate and measured.

Singapore

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during the U19 WFC 2024?

Describing our Team Singapore as an underdog with sheer determination and willingness to work hard for one another even if the results aren’t in favour to us. The team has the ability to overcome obstacles and love challenges especially playing against team that is higher ranked.

Rookie or young player to look out for on your team and why?

#65 Dewi Tiara Binte Fadzli – She’s a game changer with strong character and love pushing to limits. With her speed and ability to make swift decisions, she can create a lot of problems for opposition.

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

#22 Chia Kacey – Her pure leadership skills putting her team above herself. Making sure things are going smoothly and her constant checks on her teammates, makes her an even special leader.
