Men’s World Floorball Championships 2024 EUR1 Qualifications will take place in Liepaja, Latvia from 31st January – 3rd February. Finland, Estonia, France, and the Netherlands are playing in Group A and Latvia, Germany, Iceland and Liechtenstein in Group B.

 

Group A

Finland

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2024?

Our team is really fast and able to play quick floorball. Hopefully we are able to offer nice offensive combination and keep the ball moving in high speed.

Team rookie or young player to look out for on your team and why?

#71 Luukas Hyvärinen was one of the best players in the junior world championships and has been producing lots of points in the Finnish league. Finds creative solutions and has a great shot.

 

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

#20 Nico Salo is the leader of the team and has the captain’s armband also. He has been around for a long time and has learnt leadership from great players like Tatu Väänänen, Mika Kohonen and Juha Kivilehto.

 

Most skillful player?

#79 Juuso Ahola can produce spectacular moves and does his moves in great speed.

#73 Justus Kainulainen has always fairplay on top of everything he does. Respects the game, the opponent and the referees.

 

 

 

Estonia

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2024?

Estonian men’s national team is a very youthful team as we have many new young players with great technical skills. The team is composed mainly from local league players. Our aim is to secure our spot at the World Championship in Sweden.

#23 Karl-Erik Kukk is a right forward player from a local league who has very high technical skills.

 

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

#87 Tanel Kasenurm is our goal maker. He has become one of the leading players of our team. His shots for the goal are swift and precise.

#64 Kaspar Kallion is a great team player with good technical skills who can play as well on both sides.

#6 Rasmus Bolander is a technical defender who can handle any situation on the field.

 

 

 

France

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2024?

Our team is fairly young, both in experience and in the world of floorball, but the aim is to validate the good work we’ve done and qualify for the World Championships for the first time in our history!

#43 Luca Bacciarini, simple and efficient, he has become one of the key players in our game as well in his Swiss club team.

#30 Thomas Basset is a complete player but also a complete team player, he knows how to motivate the whole group.

 

 

Most skillful player?

#98 Balthazar Delavy, he’s the most talented player during all the training we did, and partipate to create and explain exercise during training.

#7 Manaure Russo Mendoza, his experience is really import for the group since many years.

 

 

 

Netherlands

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2024?

We’re Team Netherlands, bringing together the experienced and rookie players this tournament. With a short but intense preparation we’re aiming high hoping to qualify for the World Championships. The team exists of a mix of seasoned players that have played many qualifiers and upcoming youth who are very eager. With our new coach Lauri Nivalinna and Aaro Kankare, we put together a team that has skill, experience and determination.

#4 Robin Swier is the youngest of the team! Having played in the U19 team and training in Switzerland he is one of the upcoming talents in the Netherlands!

 

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

#80 Jasper Sangen is the captain of the team. The team has selected him as captain because of his experience and skill. His leadership on and off the field is the foundation of the team.

 

 

Most skillful player?

#88 Axel Vallentgoed is a very technical and skillful player from Sweden. He has quick feet and great ball control, always finding a way to escape a gnarly situation.

 

 

Which player demonstrates #FairFloorball the best?

#29 Jeroen Bart has, with his years of experience in Sweden and the Netherlands, learned to play the game as it is meaned to be. With his great physique and tactical thinking he knows how to win fair and square.

 

 

 

Group B

Latvia

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2024?

The Latvian men’s national team is always seeking ways to improve individually and as a team. This involves humble learning from experiences, embracing feedback, and staying open to new ideas. Strong team cohesion is a foundation for our common journey. Discipline and a strong work ethic help players stay focused and maintain their physical and mental condition during the tournament. Strong leadership, both on and off the field, is essential. Leaders motivate their teammates, make quick decisions, and set an example through their work ethic and commitment.

#13 Markuss Dumpis moves smoothly on court and navigates with high tempo through opponents. He does not hesitate to challenge one on one and create scoring chances for himself and his line mates.

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

#21 Artis Raitums plays a central and influential role on the team and has a significant impact on the team’s performance on and off the court. He is motivating teammates, setting an example through work ethic every day and making critical decisions on deciding moments in games. Artis understands the importance of defensive responsibilities and contributes by backchecking effectively. He is a versatile player and adapts to all game situations.

#5 Jorens Malkavs is an artist and finds creative ways to solve challenges on court. He has a vision and awareness of the entire field and spots open teammates in split-second decisions.

 

 

Which player demonstrates #FairFloorball the best?

#20 Gustavs Griezitis is a role model for several Latvian youngsters and treats everyone with respect on and off the field. He accepts and respects the decisions of the referees and plays hard but within the rules of the game. Gustavs fosters a positive and encouraging atmosphere within our team by supporting and motivating everyone.

 

 

Germany

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2024?

After a quite successful WFC in Switzerland we will try to show that we continue our development process. We want to play offensive and attractive floorball with a good mix of experienced players and some newcomers.

Iceland

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2024?

Team Iceland is participating for the fifth time in WFC. The team consists of established players playing in Scandinavia and less experienced, but equally enthusiastic, players in Iceland. We’ve improved with every qualification and you can expect a bunch of guys proud to represent Iceland and full of energy to play their heart out for a spot in the Final.

#70 Anton Christensen is the youngest of the team but also the bravest. Never afraid to use his skills to take on a defender and get the ball past the goalkeeeper with his fierce shot.

We have true leader in #5 Pétur Elvar Sigurðsson. Motivating off the court and then sets the example on the court with his powerful play and determination to win.

#24 Andreas Stefansson is a world class stirker with an SSL record to prove it!

#44 Olafur Ingi Sigurdsson demonstrates #FairFlooball with his great work in building an inclusive floorball community in his home town of Akureyri and with his energetic but always fair playing style on the court.

 

 

 

Liechtenstein

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFCQ 2024?

Over the last few years, the national team has been strengthened and made several steps forward. Especially new young players could be recruited. Liechtenstein is a bit of a wonder bag, but always good for a surprise. It’s a team with a lot of heart and attitude. You can assume that we will fight until the bells ring.
