The national competitions in Italy came to an end in the last weekends of May with some very exciting matches.

The final in the Women’s Italian Championship was played in Sant’Angelo di Piove di Sacco, while the Men’s U19 championship final was played in Sesto San Giovanni close to Milan. Both matches were very tight and in both cases the teams of the club Black Lions had to yield to the opponent.

In the Women’s category Viking Roma won the title, thereby completing a fantastic season for the Roman club in which they managed to win three titles: the A1 Championship, the A2 Championship (the Academy team) and the Women’s Championship. Black Lions managed to take the lead twice, but Viking Roma took advantage of a delayed penalty with Marta Cavaldesi scoring the winning 3-2 goal. The match ended with a power play for Black Lions but thanks to a strong box play Viking Roma managed to defend the lead and raise the trophy. The club won double this season as they also took home the title in the Men’s Championship.

Instead in the Men’s U19 category it was SSV Diamante Bolzano and Black Lions challenging each other in a very tight final. After 60 minutes it was still a draw and extra time was required for the South Tirol team to score the decisive golden goal with the match finishing 10-9.

The events were very well organised by the clubs SHC Serenissima (Women’s final) and GEAS Sesto (Men’s U19 final).
