After retaining their SEA Games title at the 2023 Games in Cambodia, the Singapore women’s floorball team will now bid for world glory on home soil as the schedule and ticketing details for the Women’s World Floorball Championships 2023 have been announced.

Fans will be able to catch 16 of the best floorball teams, including defending champions Sweden, in action at the Singapore Sports Hub from 2nd – 10th December as they battle it out to be world champions.

Sweden, who are also ranked world No. 1, open their title defence against Slovakia at the OCBC Arena on 2nd December, while hosts Singapore begin their campaign against France on the same day. The action will also take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium later with the semi-finals and final taking place there on 9th and 10th December respectively.

The full schedule can be found in here.

Ticketing details have also been announced, with early bird sales starting on Friday 26th May. Prices start from $20 for youth aged six to 17, and from $35 for those above 18. Tickets are available at www.sistic.com.sg.

Singapore will be looking to build on their triumph in Cambodia, where they won their third SEA Games gold in as many editions, and improve on their previous best finish at the WFC of 12th in 2019. At the previous edition in 2021 in Sweden, Singapore were 14th.

Kenneth Ho, President of the Singapore Floorball Association and Chairperson of WFC 2023, said: “Winning the SEA Games gold means a lot to us and we’re very proud of the women’s team for this achievement. We hope they build on this momentum and carry the same energy we displayed in Cambodia as we prepare for the Women’s World Floorball Championships 2023. It’s going to be a tough few months for the team but I am confident that they are ready for the challenge ahead and they will prepare in the best way they can to bring glory to Singapore. It will be a great honour for the team to play at home in front of their family, friends and fellow Singaporeans as they look forward to giving them a good show.

World No. 13 Singapore are in Group C alongside France (27th), Australia (11th) and Germany (9th).

Sarah Mitchell, Event Manager at the IFF, said: “The IFF is looking forward to returning to Singapore for another Women’s World Championships. I was fortunate enough to be involved in the 2005 event as a player and I know how special this will be for all the players who are selected to represent their country. Especially for those coming from Europe, this will be a highlight of their international floorball career. Singapore will no doubt be a wonderful host for the IFF, teams, and spectators, and this will be a showcase event for Floorball in all of Asia.

The groupings are as follows:

Group A Group B Group C Group D
Finland Sweden Germany Denmark
Switzerland Czech Republic Australia Japan
Norway Poland Singapore Estonia
Latvia Slovakia France USA

At the biennial WFC, 16 teams are split into four groups and each group plays a single round robin. The teams with a higher world ranking based on the previous two editions of the Championships are drawn into Groups A and B, while teams with a lower ranking are drawn into Groups C and D. The top two teams in Group A and B advance to the quarter-finals directly while the remaining teams in each of these two groups will qualify for a play-off round against the top two teams of Group C and D. The play-off winners progress to the quarter-finals, while the other teams will play matches to determine their final placings.

The WFC 2023 is co-organised by sports agency Kin Productions Pte Ltd and the Singapore Floorball Association, and supported by Sport Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board.

Mr. Ko Chee Wah, Chairman, Kin Productions Ptd Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be a part of the team that is delivering the Women’s World Floorball Championship 2023. Our strength and expertise at Kin Productions is in delivering world-class sporting events including last year’s very first Singapore Floorball Series, and we are committed to ensuring that the WFC 2023 will be a stellar event as well. We look forward to welcoming the world’s best floorball players to Singapore at the end of the year.
