The floorball tournament at Southeast Asian Games 2023 has come to an end. Singapore won the women’s event and Thailand the men’s event.

In the women’s event Singapore defended their title from 2019 and are now again the winners of SEA Games. They lost against Thailand in the group stage yesterday but got the chance for a re-match in today’s final. Singapore had a good start and the captain Michelle Lok took her team in the lead in the first period. Swee Ling Ong and Shannon Yeo scored in the second period. Nelly Johansson started the scoring for Thailand in the end of the second period and the difference being only two goals, anything was possible. Until it wasn’t. Singapore had a successful power play and Yun Shawn Yee scored already the fourth goal for red and white. The top scorer Sirinan Boonbut brought Thailand one goal closer but it was not enough. Singapore celebrate their 3rd SEA Games gold, having won all the editions where floorball has been included while Thailand have to set for silver.

Philippines got bronze after winning 4-2 against Malaysia. This was the first SEA Games medal for the Philippines women’s team as they did not take part in 2015 and finished fourth in 2019.
