All 16 teams are now set and the ballot has been drawn for the four groups at the Women’s World Floorball Championships this December in Singapore.

Below is a breakdown of each group and some facts about each side and their history at Women’s WFC!

 

Group A:

LatviaPlayed Norway at last WFC 2021, score was 9-6 to Norway. Best result was 4th in 2007.

NorwayLast match in a WFC with Switzerland and Finland was 2017 WFC, a 10-1 loss to both teams. Best result was 3rd in 1997 and 2001.

FinlandHave never finished outside the medals in a Women’s WFC before. Last Women’s WFC championship win was in 2001. Undefeated in qualifying.

SwitzerlandWinners in 2005 last time Singapore hosted. Beat Finland in their last 2 previous meetings. Most famous WFC win was at home in Neuchâtel in 2019 coming back from 6-2 down with 2 minutes remaining to then win in OT vs Czech Republic in the semi-finals. Undefeated in qualifying.

 

Group B:

SlovakiaHave never beaten Czech Republic or Sweden in competitive matches. Best result at Women’s WFC was 5th in 2017 which they hosted in Bratislava.

Poland Played Slovakia at the last two Women’s WFC’s for 5th place winning both matches. Played Sweden only at 2 previous WFC’s (2013 and 2017).

Czech RepublicWas previously in the same group as Sweden at the 2019 WFC. Best result at Women’s WFC is 3rd in 2011. Undefeated in qualifying.

SwedenHave won the last 8 World Championships in a row. Last loss at a WFC was 2007 vs Finland. Won the last 4 World Championship finals (2015, 2017, 2019, 2021) in OT/Shootout. Undefeated in qualifying.

 

Group C:

SingaporeHost nation also hosted the 2005 edition. Had a memorable tight match against Germany at the 2019 WFC narrowly losing 6-7. Best result was 10th in 2007.

FranceFirst ever appearance at a WFC in both men and women’s competitions. Have never played Singapore, Australia or Germany before in a WFC or WFCQ.

AustraliaMost famous WFC victory was against Denmark in 1999 where they won 3-2 helping the Aussies to their best WFC finish of 9th and first time a Non-European Nation beat a European side. Played Singapore twice at the 2019 WFC where they lost once and won once (3-4 & 3-1)

GermanyLast match vs Singapore was 7-6 win at the 2019 WFC and against Australia was a 8-0 win at the 2011 WFC. Best WFC result was 6th in 2015.

 

Group D:

EstoniaPlayed USA in 2017 and 2019 WFC winning both in OT. Played Japan twice at the 2019 WFC losing and winning 1 match. Never beaten Denmark at a Women’s WFC. Best finish of 11th in 2017.

USAUndefeated against Japan in 3 WFC matches between the two. Played Denmark 6 times at WFC losing all 6. Best result of 9th in 2011

JapanPlayed Denmark at 6 previous WFC’s, drawing once and losing 5. Best result of 8th in 2005 due to winning B division in 2003.

DenmarkFinished 6th at the 2007 WFC beating Norway and USA after winning B division in 2005. Hosted the 2007 Women’s WFC in Frederikshavn host city of the 2023 U19 WFC!
