Day 4 of Floorball at the World Games provided plenty of spectactle.
Sweden vs Czech Republic
The Swedish team were the favourit in this first semi-final and it did not take them long to score and extend the lead to 3-0. The team from Czech Republic had the best chances during a powerplay in the first period but were not successful in scoring. The Swedes were in control and dictating play throughout the second period and adding another two goals. The last period ended 1-1 and Sweden qualified comfortably for the final with a 6-1 victory. There was lot of tossing around which culminated in a red card for Mikulas Krbec.

Finland vs Latvia
The Finns were in control and had the upper hand throughout the 1st and 2nd periods and as a result went into the third period 4-0 up. The Latvians had to grow into this semi-final as the finish team was well prepared of the Latvian tactics. It was only in the 44th minute when Latvia scored their first and only goal in the game. Finland secured their spot in the gold medal match with a fourth consecutive win in this tournament. Finland will play against Sweden for the gold medal. Latvia will play against Czech Rpublic for the bronze medal.

USA vs Thailand
What a start into this game for the 7th place. Seven goals in the first period. It was Team Thailand with the better start. They scored the first two goals. But it did not take long until Team USA was able to respond and score two goals. There were only a bit more than seven minutes played and it was back to the start field 2-2. However, it was Team Thailand who had an answer ready: another three goals before the horn called the first intermisson. For the rest of the game there were only three additional goals scored. Two on the side for Thailand and just one for the Team USA – Team Thailand wins 7-3. This means Thailand finish as 7th and Team USA as 8th.

Switzerland vs Canada
The final match of the day was between Switzerland and Canada. On paper it seemed to be a clear case where Switzerland was the red hot favourite. But after two periods Switzerland was only leading 2-1. The start was pretty ok but afterwards the intensity and intention to score had room for improvement. There was a different Swiss team on the court after the second intermission. Suddenly the energy levels were much higher and the Swiss started to score – ten times in the 15 minutes period. Switzerland secured the fifth place with this 12-1 victory.
