The 23rd General Meeting of Czech Floorball brought several changes. Above all, a new President was elected. The current Vice President, Daniel Novák, replaced Filip Šuman, who decided not to continue in this role. At the same time, the Executive Committee members were also elected.

However, one of them withdrew his candidacy just before the election. The election of the president took place by public vote and Daniel Novák was elected almost unanimously.

— I appreciate the strong support and look forward to the next three years of work for floorball. Taking the lead after Filip Šuman is not an easy task, but thanks to my work as Vice President I know what I am getting into and what goals and challenges await. I look forward to working with colleagues from the Executive Committee. We still want to continue working on a strong position for floorball not only in the Czech Republic and at the same time maintain a fair environment across the sport, said the new President of Czech Floorball after the election.

Novák’s mandate is for three years, meaning he will head Czech Floorball until 2024. The same tenure is for the mandate for elected members of the Executive Committee.

His predecessor, Filip Šuman, who did not defend his mandate at the general meeting, spent 21 years as President. He then wished his successor good luck.

—  I am glad that Dan is taking over the position. We have been cooperating successfully together for many years, and I believe that he can continue to advance Czech Floorball, he said.

The Executive Committee also underwent changes. All current members who ran have defended their post. Tomáš Pacák and Jiří Dufek were elected to the positions that were vacated after the already mentioned Filip Šuman and Jan Maceček, who were not running.

The elections were preceded by Friday’s programme when the Executive Committee met in Brno. Furthermore, on Saturday, there was a meeting of top representatives of Czech Floorball with representatives of floorball regions. The morning program included a discussion of regional governors and the national executive committee, where they discussed regional development plans and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on floorball. The rest of Saturday’s programme took place in a broader group with members of the regional executive committees. In this composition, the division support programme, the approved development plan of Czech Floorball until 2030, the plan to support the return to floorball, including the mobile floorball surfaces project, were discussed, followed by content discussions in coaching, regional competitions, referees and sports and floorball infrastructure development.

Sunday’s 23rd General Meeting evaluated the activities of Czech Floorball over the past period and discussed the current state of floorball in the Czech Republic, which was affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The budget for 2021 was approved and club support programs for the upcoming 2021/22 season were discussed very intensively.
