The two Final Four events took place in Poland over the weekend and the champions were announced on Sunday the 30th of May. MMKS Podhale won the Women’s Extraleague championship and UKS Bankówka Zielonka the Men’s Extraleague title.
Women’ Extraleague
The two semi-finals were played on Saturday. MMKS Podhale was the first team to secure their spot in the final winning 4-3 against PUKS Trzebinia. The second semi-final between Jedynka Trzebiatów and Interplastic Olimpia Gdansk was decided in overtime. Justyna Krzywak from Jedynka Trzebiatów scored the golden goal after 63 minutes.
The third place match and the final took place on Sunday. Interplastic Olimpia Gdansk won the third place match 6-2 against Trzebinia. The best player from Interplastic was Weronika Grądzka who scored two goals and assisted one. In the final MMKS Podhale won 5-4 against Jedynka Trzebiatów and took home the championship title.
Men’s Extraleague
In the first semi-final, UKS Bankówka Zielonka met SKS Olimpia Łochów. This match was clearly a domination of the regular season winner UKS Bankówka Zielonka who won the match 13-5. The player of the match from Bankówka Zielonka was Igor Grabowski who scored three goals and assisted one. The second semi-final between Gorący Potok Szarotka Nowy Targ and Floorball Gorzów had to be decided in overtime. The player of the match Łukasz Chlebda scored his fourth goal in the evening when his goal secured the final spot for KS Gorący Potok Szarotka Nowy Targ.
On Sunday Olimpia Łochów and Floorball Gorzów played first for the bronze. Floorball Gorzów took home third place after an even game which was decided with penalty shots. Final score was 7-6 for Gorzów. This medal was historical since it was the first medal for the team in the Extraleague. The two best teams from the regular season, UKS Bankówka Zielonka and KS Gorący Potok Szarotka Nowy Targ played in the Men’s Extraleague final. UKS Bankówka Zielonka won the final 3-2 and could celebrate becoming the Polish champions this season.
