The current pandemic situation has forced some countries to cancel their floorball seasons. In Germany the season was cancelled in March. In Slovakia, no matches have been played since October and it looks like the season might be cancelled. In Estonia, the matches have been suspended until April.

The Belgian Floorball Federation had already earlier, in the beginning of February, cancelled the floorball season in Belgium.

Estonia

In Estonia the league matches have been suspended until the beginning of April. According to the new order from the government, the matches in the premier league are not allowed since March 11th. The Competition Committee of Estonian Floorball Union decided based on the input from the teams, to take break from organising league matches, although organising championship matches would have been allowed.

According to the union, the Men’s league would continue on April 3rd. The last match in the Women’s league took place on March 13th and the league is now on a break as well. The Super Finals were first scheduled for April 10th but have been postponed May 15th.

Germany

The board of the German Floorball Association decided to end the current season in the 1st and 2nd Floorball Bundesliga (FBL) on Thursday 4th of March. The decision was based on the results of the latest ministerial conference, recommendations by other authorities and the survey of the Bundesliga clubs. The FD Cup and Final4 were also affected by this decision. FD Cup will not be finished this season and Final4 that was planned for August is cancelled.

Due to the termination of the season, no champions will be chosen. Also, no teams are being promoted. An exception to this is the promotion of teams to the 2nd FBL for the 2021/2022 season. The aim is to increase the number of teams to eight if possible. There should be enough teams from the respective regions willing to advance to the league.
