After a break of more than four months, the Men’s and Women’s ELVI floorball leagues continue in Latvia. The Women’s league continues on Thursday 25th of March and the Men’s on Friday 26th of March.

No league matches have been played in Latvia after November last year, when all competitions were suspended based on the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers. Indoor training was fully allowed from March 8th onwards. This provided the teams a three-week preparation period before continuing their season in the league. The championships are played with a total of 12 teams in the Men’s league and eight in the Women’s.

The Women’s ELVI league continues on Thursday when Rubene and Rubene-1 meet in Kocēni. The Men’s league resumes on Friday with a match between Talsu NSS/Krauzers and RTU/Rockets and between SK Pārgauja and Bauska. The championship will be organised in accordance with the Latvian Floorball Union’s (LFS) Regulations for Reducing the Spread of Covid-19 and other binding regulations. All matches take place without spectators unless any changes to this are adopted during the rest of the season. The matches can be streamed live on Sportacentrs.com TV and LFS YouTube channel.

The regular season in the Men’s league is planned to be played in its full form ending at the end of May but the play-offs will be shortened – quarter-final series will be played with a best of three series, followed by a two-day Final Four event. The next Latvian champion will be determined before the summer.

In the Women’s league the basic part will be played by the beginning of May. The quarter-final and semi-final series will follow, played with best of three series. The champion will then be determined in early June.
