During the Latvian Floorball Union (LFU) General Assembly, which was held in Riga on 1st of July 2020, the new Central Board and President were elected.

Ilvis Petersons has been the President of LFU for the last twelve years and he was re-elected for the fourth four-year term.

After the election Mr.Petersons expressed his gratitude to the Latvian floorball community and outlined the upcoming challenges:

– I appreciate the support and mandate of the members for the next term. In recent years we have done remarkable things – starting with an official outdoors floorball game in the heart of our country – the square near the Freedom Monument, organizing the Men’s World Championship 2016 in Riga, hosting multiple EuroFloorball Cup and WFC qualification events, establishing good cooperation with IFF and other national federations. In the near future our main goals will be development of unitary national training methodology that is based on latest tendencies, development of women’s floorball, renewal of U15 & U17 talent academy, making the national championships competitive with the top team sports in the country, maintaining and increasing the number of licensed players, considering upcoming regional reform. Attracting private funding will be a big challenge in the new conditions, but we are ready to improve Latvian floorball as a product for sponsors, advertisers and spectators. Our goal number one – Floorball among the priority sports in Latvia!.

During the meeting the new Central Board was elected. Ten board members were re-elected and two were elected as new members.
