The IFF referee, Mr. Andrew Lewis (FIN) was awarded today for his 150th international match which was played on the 29th of January between the Netherlands and Spain. The award ceremony took place before the Men’s WFC 2020 qualifications match between Latvia and Germany in Liepaja, Latvia.
Lewis was appointed as the international referee in 2009. His first IFF event was the Men’s WFCQ 2010 in Poland. Mr. Lewis has refereed together with Mr. Anssi Silvo during his whole international career. In addition to being international referees, they referee the Finnish league. Mr. Lewis is also the oldest IFF refereee by age, turning 52 in June 2020.
Mr. Tony Holmer, who is the Head of Referees in EUR3 group in Latvia, describes Lewis as follows:
– He is a great person on and off the field. Andrew gets along with other referees very well and he is a real team player. He helps others with his experience and takes responsibility for the referee group. On the field he is described as a fair and just referee who values good communication with the players.
