The Finnish national leagues started this weekend. The upcoming Men´s World Floorball Championship in Prague and the transfer news are making the upcoming season interesting to follow.
Several changes have reformed both leagues. For example, the Superfinal is no more taking place in the end of the season. The regular play-offs are played with “best out of seven” system. In the Women´s league, the aim is to gather resources to develop women´s and girls´ floorball. Each goal during the regular season, means 10 euros for development work.
The Women´s league started on Saturday, 15th September. The season is expected to be more even than during the previous years. The last year´s winner, SB-Pro, is however expected to dominate the league this season as well. The league lost several star players before this season, Classic being the team losing most of its key players. For example, Ella Alanko, Eliisa Alanko, Hanna Sipiläinen and Nina Rantanen (former Rantala), quit their careers.
An interesting question concerning the Men´s league is, if there is a team that is able to challenge Classic? Classic has dominated the league for the last three seasons and this season is expected to be no exception. Concerning the national team, several key players such as Krister Savonen and Nico Salo, are playing for Classic. The challenger group is expected to be even and might include teams such as SPV, TPS and Happee.
The upcoming Men´s WFC in Prague also creates excitement for this season. Is Finland able to win the Championship title this year or not?
