35-year-old Finnish national team player Rickie Hyvärinen ends his career.

Rickie Hyvärinen is ending his playing career. Finland´s national team player stated that it is time to give room for others and for him to focus on the life outside floorball. Hyvärinen has represented Finland in three Men’s World Floorball Championships. He was part of the team when they won their first gold in 2008 on overtime and Hyvärinen even passed the winning goal. In addition to the first gold medal, he has also won another gold and one silver medal from the WFCs. All in all, he has played 56 national team matches and has scored a rather nice 91 points (58+33).

Hyvärinen has played in the Swedish top league, SSL, for the past 13 seasons and has represented three different teams: AIK Innebandy, Caperiotäby and Storvreta. Each season he scored over 30 points and was the top scorer on season 2009-2010, when he scored 69 points. During the same season, he was chosen as the best player in the SSL.

Hyvärinen´s coach Magnus Jäderlund said that he will be missed:
– Rickie is one of the best players I´ve seen playing. And even more, he is one of the biggest characters and personalities among the sport.
