Hosts USA won a hard fought 3 game series with a vital Game 3 win at home in Austin, Texas against rivals Canada to secure their qualification for the 2025 WFC in Czechia

Game 1 was super close and with a brilliant third period performance it was US goalie Kate MacBean that proved to be the difference stopping all 10 Canadian shots in the third to allow her side to pull ahead by a further 2 goals and end the contest in game 1 with a final score of 9-6 to the USA.

Game 2 was the turn of the defences to take over with a nervy and tight match being spearheaded by both defensive units and goalkeepers. Ida Hudson from Canada and Ella Gjerde from the US were both in incredible form and had stand out performances in Game 2. The Canadian defence held stronger however and did really well to shut down the strong US attack and claim a narrow 3-2 victory and set up the decisive game 3.

With both previous matches close in quality and on the scoresheet, Game 3 was more of the same with another close game. The main difference for the final match was the USA attack, that proved crucial with 7 goals in total. Leading by example was captain and one of the most experienced players on the field in Marie Haggstrom, as her 5 points helped USA gain a crucial Game 3 victory by 7 goals to 5 and stamp their ticket to the 2025 WFC in Czechia this December!

With a total goal difference of only 4 goals over 3 matches, things are certainly getting closer between the two nations in Americas region. With Canada winning TWG 2025 qualifier the previous summer in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the US were able to get revenge this time despite how close it was. Disappointment for Canada who despite qualifying for TWG 2025 in China, are still on the hunt for their 2nd appearance at the Women’s World Floorball Championships with their one and only previous appearance taking place back in 2013 in Czechia.
