The WFCQ EUR1 2025 Event Disciplinary Function (EDF) has given a one match suspension to Anna Ankudinova from Team Latvia. The suspension is in connection to an incident in the group match against Spain on Wednesday 29th of January 2025.
The incident under review happened at 52:09, and was not penalised by the referees. The incident was reported to the EDF by the IFF Head of referees of the event for further review.
In making their decision, the EDF reviewed the match video and statements from the referees, Head of referees, Jury of the match and the letter of defense from Anna Ankudinova. It was the opinion of the EDF that the action of Anna Ankudinova (direct contact with her arm to the head of her opponent) should have been penalised with a match penalty, according to the Rules of the Game 614:3 When a player is guilty of violent physical play. According to the Rules of the Game 2022, 613:2 Match penalty shall lead to suspension for the rest of the match and from the following match in the same competition and possible further punishment according to the conditions and routines set by the administrating authority.
Final decision of the EDF is to penalise Anna Ankudinova with the equivalent of a match penalty, which means a one match suspension from the next game in the event. No further sanction was deemed necessary.
This means that Anna Ankudinova is ineligible for inclusion in Team Latvia’s next game in the Women’s WFCQ EUR1 2025, which is the group match against Estonia on Friday 31st of January 2025.
