From 29 April to 4 May 2025, the best U19 players in the world will be guests in Zurich. The 2025 U19 World Floorball Championships are already on the horizon and the Qualifications for the event are set to begin later this year with Europe, Americas and Asia-Oceania all hosting events to decide who will join the top 9 ranked nations in Switzerland next April/May 2025.
After the 2022 Men’s World Championships in Zurich and Winterthur, Switzerland will once again host a World Floorball Championships in 2025, with the Men’s U19 WFC beginning April 29th.
The qualifications for the event begin this August 2024 with the Americas region in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada as USA and hosts Canada fight it out for the 1 final round ticket between the two nations. A slighty amended format from the previous years means that this event is now a “Best of 3” format, with the first nation to 2 wins qualifying for Switzerland. 3 matches maximum will be played in New Brunswick from the 2nd – 4th of August, with each match using Overtime and Penalty Shots if unable to split in regular time (60 minutes).
Europe has one confirmed qualification host with another still to be determined. Pruszcz in Poland will play hosts to the EUR1 qualification group comprising of Belgium, Estonia, France, hosts Poland and Spain. Of these 5 nations, the top 2 will automatically qualify for the 2025 U19 WFC. These EUR1 qualifications will take place from 4-8th of September, 2024. For the EUR2 qualification group containing Austria, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Slovenia and Ukraine, there is no host for the event. This will be updated as soon as host can indeed be found and dates/venue are confirmed. Two teams from the EUR2 qualification group will qualify for the final round in Zurich.
Our final regional qualifying event for the U19 WFC 2025 is a momentous one as the Solomon Islands have been confirmed as hosts for the Asia-Oceania region (AOFC). The AOFC qualification event will take place from 20th-22nd of September in Honiara, Solomon Islands between Australia, Japan, New Zealand and Singapore. Hosts Solomon Islands will not participate but will play friendly warm up matches with some of the nations competing and there will also be referee and coaching seminars happening during the qualifications to further help and assist those on the Solomon Islands in their early stages of becoming a “Floorball nation”. The aim for these qualifications is to help train and coach those on the Solomon Islands with an early passion for sport with key figures from the participating nations and in the IFF helping the locals out in a sport that already has a strong early footing in a nation of just over 730,000 people.
7 nations from around the world will join hosts Switzerland plus Sweden, Finland, Czechia, Latvia, Slovakia, Norway, Denmark and Germany in Switzerland. 16 teams will play at the 13th edition of the Men’s U19 WFC in Zurich next year. The group matches are scheduled from Tuesday to Friday in the Hardau or in the Saalsporthalle. For the finals, floorball will return to the place where the men were in the spotlight in 2022: the Swiss Life Arena in Zurich Altstetten, the home of the ZSC Lions, Swiss Ice-Hockey champions of 2024.
