The Event Disciplinary Function (EDF) of the Women’s U19 WFC 2024 made a decision to suspend Mia Osterbo Nilsen (#21 NOR) for one match following an incident in the match yesterday of Norway v Germany. The incident happened at 29:56 and involved Nilsen making direct contact with her stick to the head of the German goalkeeper. The incident was not penalised by the referees but was reported to the EDF by both the U19 WFC Referee Management and Jury for review.

The EDF can only apply sanctions for the specific event, however due to the seriousness of the offence and the possibility for serious injury to the opponent player, the incident will be referred to the IFF Disciplinary Committee for further review and possible additional punishment.

Rule 614:3 – When a player is guilty of violent physical play (909).  According to the Rules of the Game 2022 (Rule 613:2):  Match penalty shall lead to suspension for the rest of the match and from the following match in the same competition and possible further punishment according to the conditions and routines set by the administrating authority.
