Day 1 at the first ever 3v3 WFC was a spectacle! Over 400 players from across the world congregated to Lahti in order to compete for the crown of best 3v3 team in the world.
We saw some shock results such as New Zealand Men beat Czechia twice before falling in the Quarter-Finals and USA Red beating Poland as well. It was a great atmosphere inside the Lahti Sport and Fair Centre, with new friendships being established, new members joining the Floorball Family and genuine interest from around the world in the new 3v3 format for Floorball.
On the Men’s side it was Latvia who dominated day 1 with both their teams sailing through to the Semi-Finals where they will face each other. Sweden and Finland Lahti take on each other in the other Semi-Final with a chance for Gold up for grabs on Sunday. On the Women’s side it was a mix of fortune as a dominant Sweden almost fell in the Quarter Finals to a strong Latvia, making it to the semis where they will face Germany who have impressed throughout. Finland Blue were the better of the two Finnish sides competing and will take on the kleinfeld masters from Switzerland who have also been very strong and comfortable on the 3v3 field.
Play begins 9am on Sunday May 12th for the final day of action of the IFF 3v3 World Floorball Championships 2024, where our inaugural 3v3 World Champions for Men and Women will be crowned.
