Mika Kohonen has been selected to the Finnish Sports Hall of Fame. Kohonen is the first floorball representative to be included in the HoF.

Four Finnish athlete legends were included in the Hall of Fame of Finnish Sports and they were announced on Sunday 7th January. Yesterday the annual Sports Gala was held in Helsinki, Finland and these legends, including Mika Kohonen, received their awards.

— This award means so much to me. I’m grateful and really proud of our sport. Athlete is never alone, doesn’t matter if you’re from team sport or individual sport. Thanks to our family, loved ones, and everyone who has been on this journey with me. Without you this journey would have not ended here. Thank you! Kohonen said in his speech.

Four-time world champion and ten-time world championship medalist Mika Kohonen was awarded five times as the world’s best floorball player. Kohonen played 194 matches in the Finnish national team and gathered a record number of points, 255 in total.
