The first season of the newly established Latvian-Estonian floorball league for men will start on October 8. Six teams will participate in the new league. Latvia will be represented by “FBK Valmiera/Betsafe”, “Rubene”, “Lielvārde/FatPipe” and “Lekrings”, while Estonia will be represented by “Jogeva SK Tähe/Olivia” and “Sparta” from Tallinn.
The new league has been created with the aim of increasing the total number of games played during the season for all teams involved. Both the Estonian and Latvian regular leagues will continue to be played alongside this new co-op league. This new league mirrors the Women who also currently play in a league comprising of Latvian and Estonian teams due to the low number of teams in Estonia, with Sparta and Tartu joining NND Riga, Lekrings, FK Kekava and Rubene.
For this new men’s league, the teams will play a two-round regular tournament, but the final distribution of places will be decided in the final stage of the two-day “Final Four” format.
In the first game of the new league, which will take place on October 8 in the Cēsi sports complex, the local, home side Lekrings will host Sparta.
