Over the weekend of 2-4th of September, the 2023 US National Championships took place in Dallas, Texas where 10 teams from across the USA did battle to decide US national champion for 2023.
With the NAFL being the main league competition in the US this US nationals acts as a USA Club Championships as of sorts. 3 groups made up the preliminary phase of play with the finals day being played on Monday September 4th. With teams coming from across the USA with California, Michigan, Colorado and Texas being represented by teams from those states. The USA U19 Men’s national team and Women’s national team were both also in attendance in a development capacity with the Men’s U19 starting a new cycle of development with a new group of players aiming to play at the 2025 U19 WFC in Switzerland after the previous squad who recently played at the U19 WFC in Frederikshavn, Denmark earlier this year. The Women’s national team were also comprised of only players residing in the US with their international based players (Mainly in Europe). With a recent camp taking place for the Women’s team in Sweden this was a good outing for the US based Women’s players against male opposition.
Defending champs North Texas (NTFA) repeated as champions yet again in a close final against Menlo Park winning by just 1 goal to 0. Chicago Dogs again showed themselves to be one of the best teams in the US with a 3rd place matchup victory over an ever strengthening Colorado side who seem to get better and better with every tournament.
