Women’s World Floorball Championships 2023 Qualifications will be organised in four different countries. EUR1 and EUR2 groups will play their qualifications in Koceni, Latvia from 31st January to 4th February. Sweden, Latvia, Germany, Netherlands and Great Britain are playing in EUR 1 and Finland, Norway, Denmark, Austria and Belgium in EUR2.

Sweden

Describe your team, and what we should expect from your team during WFCQ 2023?

A team that comes with a mix of a little more experienced players and a bunch of debutants. We want to show a fast-paced, mobile and offensive game that will take us further towards the WFC in December in Singapore, which is our given goal.

Players to watch

Team rookie or young player to look out for on your team and why?

Hanna Nordstrand – making her debut in the senior national team, a young player who plays maturely and already has a wide record in terms of a good eye for the game, good duel play both with and without the ball and is physically strong. Hanna also has a good finish which we hope we will see a lot of during the qualifiers.

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Ida Sundberg – our captain who leads the team in winning duels, being hard to force in the defensive game and who fills up the attacking game with both finishes and passes that open up any defense. A great and important leader both on and off the court.

 

Most skilful player?

Wilma Johansson – a ball genius who has a great eye for the game, finds passes that no one else sees, loves the small areas, hard to take the ball away from. Wilma also has a good finish.

Latvia

Describe your team, and what we should expect from your team during WFCQ 2023?

We have the best of both worlds – some players are very experienced and developed their skills playing abroad, while some players, despite being young, have shown themselves as a strong force greatly in the previous international events and in the Women’s U19 WFC. During this WFCQ we will be ready to not only show our best possible performance in defense, but also a skilful ball control and productive attacking game style.

Marta Drille. She enjoys playing one on one, meanwhile showing her great individual floorball technique.

 

 

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Evelīna Garbare. The most experienced player on the team with an excellent understanding of the game and the one who represents the
importance of team spirit both on and off field.

 

 

Most skilful player?

Anna Ankudinova. Brilliant individual technique when it comes to one on one situations.

 

 

 

Which player demonstrates #FairFloorball the best?

Simona Grāpēna. High work and game ethics, always being aware of any given situation.

 

 

 

 

Germany

Describe your team, and what we should expect from your team during WFCQ 2023?

We have a talented team working for a new chapter in German floorball. Players are really motivated to learn new things. We expect to play good offensive floorball as a team.

Friederike Schlotmann. She has all qualities to shine in this tournament.

 

 

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Randi Kleerbaum – Defence, offense and leadership – all in the same package.

Pauline Baumgarten. It’s great to have her back in the national team!

The whole Team Germany. It would not be fair to name any single player.

 

Netherlands

Describe your team, and what we should expect from your team during WFCQ 2023?

Since Covid-19 hit, the Dutch Women’s National team have made a comeback from having a break. A new team has been created with new staff, at the core some experienced players supplemented with young talents. With renewed energy the team is looking to qualify for the WFC 2023.

Team rookie or young player to look out for on your team and why?

Alieke Nijboer – A debutant in the National Team, she comes from a field hockey turned floorball background. With her drive, energy and creativity she brings a debutants boldness on to the field to secure the win.

 

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Aymée Hazelegger – Only 21 years old, but already a strong presence in the group. Her easy-going and can-do mentality brings focus to the team and guides the team to victory.

 

 

Most skilful player?

Rebecca Krauts – A player with experience on an international level. Rebecca is a great goal scorer, leading the Dutch competition with 21 goals! Scoring is like a second nature to her.

 

 

Which player demonstrates #FairFloorball the best?

Martine Plug – The most experienced player in the team, she started with the Dutch National Team back in 2010. After a break she is back with renewed energy and her tons of experience make her a balanced and competitive player that plays hard, but fair!

 

 

Great Britain

Describe your team, and what we should expect from your team during WFCQ 2023?

This is the first Great Britain Women’s team to compete in an IFF event since February 2017 so we have a new squad with a lot of enthusiastic young players and a great team spirit. Our ambition is to be competitive and to give our opponents a run for their money while improving our World ranking.

Team rookie or young player to look out for on your team and why?

Katja Kendrew will be one of our young debuntants at this tournament and is a dynamic player capable of getting on the scoresheet while still working hard defensively.

 

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Megan Geddes is a player who plays the game with maximum effort and positivity, while also being a true team player off the rink.

 

 

Most skilful player?

Rebecca Gmunder is a quick and skilful forward who has a track record of scoring goals and assists in high level competition.

 

 

Which player demonstrates #FairFloorball the best?

Christine Allenspach plays the game with a fantastic attitude and is always willing to help her teammates and to do whatever the team needs.

 

 

 

EUR2

Finland

Describe your team, and what we should expect from your team during WFCQ 2023?

Team Finland will arrive to WFCQ with the best players. The team consists of country’s top players with experience from previous WFC’s, but also a few young talents who are on the edge of making their brakethrough to the women’s international level. The aim of the team is to win the WFCQ group and reach the place in the 14th Women’s WFC in Singapore.

Emiliä Pietilä, a young defender who is a skillful, cool-headed and brave player.

 

 

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Veera Kauppi, who has been selected already three times as the best player in the world. A leader who wants to take responsibility also off the field and she has been chosen as the team captain by the players.

 

 

Most skilful player?

My Kippilä, definitely one of the players on the team who has practiced the most individual technical skills on her own. She is also known for her versatile and skillful penalty shots.

A young talented national team with some debutants. Several players from the last U19 World Championship will play their first international matches for our senior national team.

Jeannie Mønsted, our keeper from the u19 national team. She is a skilled keeper with a good floorball future.

 

 

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Anna Habersatter is a natural leader even though she is young. She was captain of the u19 national team during the WFC in 2022. At the Women’s WFC in 2021, she showed a high level in important situations for the team.

 

 

Most skilful player?

Victoria Wohlert is a skilled defender and a good finisher.

Mette Thorsager is a good ambassador for FairFloorball, with her always kind and respectful way of being.

 

 

 

 

Austria

Describe your team, and what we should expect from your team during WFCQ 2023?

The recent years younger players joined the team. The aim is that the national team is making a step forward and represent Austria as passionate as our U19 women did in Katowice.

Goalkeeper Leona Gratzer – is a very young and skillfull goalkeeper as she showed at the U19 WFC.

Belgium

Describe your team, and what we should expect from your team during WFCQ 2023?

Team Belgium is a mix of young talents and players with more experience. In 2019 we’ve gotten a lot of compliments on our fighting spirit and we’re ready to show that again! Regardless of the opponent, we’ll give our 100%.

Team rookie or young player to look out for on your team and why?

Our opponents should definitely keep an eye on Margaux Lemoine, she already proved to be very efficient in front of the opponent’s goal.

 

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Donatella Mäder, she has a lot of experience within the team, she’s part of it since the start and has always tried to encourage everyone to play their best game.

 

 

 

Most skilful player?

Hard to choose just one: Evelien Camphyn has great technique, combined with years of experience she knows exactly how and when to use it. And Chloë De Coninck is a strong all round player who is really skilled in both offence as well as in defence.

 

 

Which player demonstrates #FairFloorball the best?

One of our goalies, Sielke Forment, she always plays fair and with a lot of respect for whoever’s in front of her goal.
