Finland and Sweden will play in the Women’s World Floorball Championships 2021 final. Switzerland and Czech Republic will battle for the bronze.

The hosts entertained the crowds at IFU Arena, when they faced Switzerland in the first semi-final. Moa Gustafsson scored the first goal after 10 minutes had been played and Sweden were in a 4-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Sweden continued scoring in the second period and with the 10th goal against Switzerland, Wilma Johansson finished her hat-trick in the match. In the last period, Switzerland succeeded once but it did not bring them any closer to the WFC final. Finally the scoreboard showed 14-1 for the hosts and Sweden will play for their 8th consecutive gold medal tomorrow.

The second semi-final was very tight right from the beginning. Oona Kauppi scored the first goal just after 54 seconds had passed but Karolina Sucha evened the game at 1:12. Czech Republic were in a 3-2 lead before the first break but Veera Kauppi evened the score in the second period. In the beginning of the third period, My Kippilä took Finland to 4-3 lead but Michaela Mlejnkova equalised once more. Finland’s 5-4 goal from Oona Kauppi was the final goal of the semi-final and also the winning goal. Czech Republic tried to get even until the last minute but did not succeed.

Poland and Slovakia will play for the 5th place in the first match tomorrow. Poland were better two years ago in Neuchatel and finished 5th. Denmark and Norway will play for the 7th place tomorrow as Denmark lost 4-7 against Poland and Slovakia beat Norway 5-4.
