The Men’s World Floorball  Championships will take place from 3rd until 11th December 2021 in Helsinki, Finland. Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Latvia are playing in Group A.

FINLAND

How has Covid-19 affected the team’s preparation for this WFC?

The beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic with discontinuation of the Finnish league and postponement of the WFC2020 Helsinki Games was of course a big shock for all but the situation was more or less the same for everyone across the sporting world. We also had to cancel a few training camps and so on but starting from summer 2020 we have been able to arrange our regular camps more or less normally by being responsible and taking appropriate safety measures to ensure Covid-19 safety. The biggest thing must have been missing the normal international games so now it feels even more special to get to play against all the other top teams in front of our home crowd!

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFC 2020?

We want to be a hard working team with great fighting spirit.

Players to watch:

Most dangerous attacker:

Sami Johansson

Scored the most points in Finnish F-Liiga last season, very skilled and fast winger with an unbelieveable shot.

Strongest defender:

Lauri Stenfors

Very physical and strong defender who doesn´t shy away from contacts.

Toughest player:

Eemeli Salin

Tall and physical power forward, very strong at one-on-one situations, has a great shot.

Face-off champion:

Joonas Pylsy

SWEDEN

How has Covid-19 affected the team’s preparation for this WFC?

Our preparations in term of matches, practices, camps etc, were highly reduced during the pandemic. The national team schedule was basically put on a pause for a whole year, which of course has backtracked us and we have had to find new ways in order to get ready for this Championships.

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFC 2020?

We believe that we have a strong and solid squad consisting of a fine mix of distinguished, seasoned veterans and young upcoming starlets. Swedish Floorball is always aiming for the spot on international level and this year’s team has no other goal in focus other than that.

Players to watch:

Most dangerous attacker:

Kim Nilsson

Recently broke the all-time scoring record in Swedish national team and has proven time and time again that he is a constant offensive threat.

Strongest defender:

Emil Johansson

Symbolizes the modern defender who is equally skilled both with the ball and also without.

Toughest player:

Tobias Gustafsson

Is the definition of an athlete who is difficult to pass through weather the opponent tries to outrun him or to dribble.

Face-off champion:

Rasmus Enström

Is the fastest ever lasting face-off champion, has an average of 86% and wins his faceoffs on both forehand and backhand.

DENMARK

How has Covid-19 affected the team’s preparation for this WFC?

It has been very difficult. The league in Denmark has been stopped, the players have had periods when they haven’t been able to practise floorball with their clubs, we have been forced to cancel a lot of our planned traning camps and we haven’t played any international games since September 2020.

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFC 2020?

Our aim for the tournament is to be typical Danish. We want to be a very hard working team, playing with a very big heart, good in defending, blocking shots, winning duels and effective in our offence. Cause of Covid-19, we really don’t know what to expect in comparison to other teams, but we will try to do our principles in the game as good as we can. We need our young players to take a big step in their development during the WFC and we need our older players to take massive responsibility.

Players to watch:

Most dangerous attacker:

Mikkel Skov

Is great in counterattack, is a big threat in special teams, has a good shot and can score goals in many ways.

Strongest defender:

Jannik Trolle

Is the rolemodel for a typical danish floorball player. He works extremely hard, a very good duell-player, blocking shots very well and with speed in counterattacks.

Toughest player:

Jannik Trolle

Never ever gives up, he also would want to play with a broken leg, loves every duell, a great team player.

Face-off champion:

Kasper Kajgaard

LATVIA

How has Covid-19 affected the team’s preparation for this WFC?

The preparation wasn’t perfect for us. After the WFCQ 2020 in Liepaja we had a 20 months break without training camps. We have a lot of new players in our team so we didn’t have a lot of time to coach them in our system. But despite that we will be prepared to do our best.

Describe your team, and what should we expect from your team during WFC 2020?

Our team is a good mix of experienced players and young talents. We will have three players who played in U19 WFC 2021 on the WFC roster. Our goal is to control the ball more and be active with and without the ball. We want to build on the playing system that we were already using in WFC Prague 2018.

Players to watch:

Most dangerous attacker:

Peteris Trekse

Has been playing in Finland for the last three seasons and has improved a lot in that time, very skillful with the ball and also has a great physical condition.

Strongest defender:

Janis Ragovskis

Has been playing in Finland for 2 seasons, has a great ability when playing with the ball, always making his line-mates better.
