Finland win the Women’s U19 WFC gold in Uppsala, Sweden. They beat the host Sweden in the final 5-4 in overtime. This is the second time that Finland won gold at U19 WFC.
The final was extremely tight and a fierce battle. Suvi Hamalainen took Finland to the lead after ten minute. She was the most valuable player for Finland. In the end she scored another two goals including the match winning goal in overtime. Sweden was able to equalise four times but never were able to lead once in the game. In the aftermath it can be said that the missed penalty shot and the two minutes penalty were costly. Both teams had their chances to score but both goalies played a very solid game. After 60 minutes it was 4-4 and the final went into overtime. There it was Suvi Hamlainen with her third goal who decided the game after six minutes and 30 seconds.
Matilda Lindgren (SWE) and Ulla Valtola (FIN) were elected best players of the final.
Czech Republic won the bronze match against Switzerland 6-2. Vanessa Rebecca Keprtova was rewarded best player for Team Czech Republic with one goal and four assists.
