The Singapore women’s national team have received a double boost in the form of sponsorship as they prepare for the World Floorball Championship (WFC) 2021 in Uppsala, Sweden.
First, Excelsior Financial (EF), made up of financial consultants representing Great Eastern Financial Advisers, committed 12,000 SGD to the team, who retained their gold medal at the 2019 SEA Games just before finishing 12th at the last Women’s WFC in 2019. This was the best achievement for the Singapore women’s team since the WFC switched to a one-division format in 2011.
Excelsior Financial’s support for the national women’s team was announced by its senior director Vincent Gan on Friday, who said in a statement published by The Strait Times:
— We are proud to continue our support both teams, especially during this uncertain climate. Their perseverance and ability to perform at the international sports arena shows their readiness to take on bigger challenges. These teams have also built an impressive track record in recent years.
According to The New Paper an anonymous donor has also pumped in 8,888 SGD to the Singapore Floorball Association, in support of the high performance programmes of the men’s, women’s and youth teams. This is the second year SFA has received this amount of money from the same anonymous donor.
Excelsior Financial has been a major sponsor of the Men’s national team since 2018, and is also the official event partner for the ActiveSG-SFA Floorball Premier League 2021-2022. EF has also pledged their continued backing as the men gear up for their World Floorball Championship in Helsinki, Finland, played from 3rd to 11th of December. The Men’s WFC was postponed by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Women’s WFC 2021 is played from 27th of November to 3rd of December.
