Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, which affected FBC Kalmarsund and IBF Falun in the Men’s SSL semi-final series, FBC Kalmarsund has informed the Swedish Floorball Federation that they will not be able to play next week. This means that IBF Falun will play in the Men’s final against Storvreta IBK on the 2nd of May. The Women’s final, Thorengruppen versus Pixbo, will be played on the 24th of April at 15.15
Thorengruppen and Pixbo will meet in the decisive Women’s match this Saturday where the winner is crowned the Swedish Champion. Last season, no playoffs could be played and IKSU was awarded champion whereas Pixbo got silver.
Will Thorengruppen take their first gold or will Pixbo beat Thorengruppen and take their second gold within six years?
Pixbo has a total of 13 Swedish Championship medals (1 Swedish Championship gold, 2 Swedish Championship silver, 10 Swedish Championship bronze) while Thorengruppen plays in its first play-offs this year. However, there are many players from last year’s IKSU team playing for Thorengruppen now.
The Men’s and Women’s finals can be watched in Sweden on SVT and SportExpressen Play. For the international audience the matches are available on www.ssl.se/view-ssl.
Storvreta versus Falun in the Men’s final
Based on the announcement from FBC Kalmarsund, the Swedish Floorball Federation’s Competition Committee has decided that IBF Falun will win the semi-final series and advance to the Swedish Championship final, where they will face Storvreta IBK in Gavlehovshallen, Gävle, on Sunday, the 2nd of May 15.15 local time.
– Of course very unfortunate and we naturally hoped that we would never have to end up here, but at the same time all parties have been aware of this season’s special conditions right from the start. We have appreciated everyone’s great willingness to cooperate in the attempts to be able to decide the match series on the field, even if we did not reach all the way now, says the Swedish Floorball Federation’s Competition Director Magnus Nilsson in SSL’s press release.
