The IFF welcomes its new intern Mattias Kauk from Estonia, who will be strengthening the IFF office team for the next months. Mattias will for example be working on the IFF Events bidding document and a sustainability guide. In addition, he will conduct a research on how Covid-19 has effected the IFF Member Associations.

Your background and connection to floorball?

– I come from Estonia, Tallinn. I am very passionate about sport and knew I wanted to connect my future ambitions with sports business. Hence why I went to study Sport Management at Northumbria University in Newcastle. I am on the second year of my Bachelors degree studies.

– I started playing ice hockey when I was four years old which then led me to floorball in 2013. I have represented the U19 national team in 2017 in Växjo and in the MU19 Qualifications 2019, played in Moscow 2018. When I went to university, there was no floorball team but there was an ice hockey team. Now I am part of the Northumbria Kings ice hockey team. I also play football in Estonia but on a lower level.

Why did you decide to apply for internship at the IFF?

– I applied at the IFF because I enjoy floorball as a sport and want to know more about the business of it. My internship will last for 12 weeks and I will be working on the bidding documents for IFF events, building a sustainability guide, strategy implementation, Covid-19 effects on national federations and many more tasks from broadcasting to marketing.

– My aim with this internship is to make new connections within the sports world and learn from the professionals at IFF. I am glad that my tasks vary from different departments giving me a chance to find what really interests me.

The internship will last from 3rd of March until 26th of May 2021. The IFF office welcomes Mattias to the team!
