The IFF has taken the decision to cancel the Men’s U19 WFC 2021 Asia Oceania qualification. The event was scheduled to be played in January 2021 in Singapore, after already being postponed from October, but ongoing COVID-19 restrictions have forced the decision.

In the AOFC region there are still many travel restrictions in place. Entry to Singapore is possible for visitors from some countries with special permission, but still requires compulsory testing and quarantine. Several of the participating countries also have strict quarantine rules for their return travel, requiring enforced hotel quarantine at their own cost for up to 14 days.

– Not only as a country are we sad and disappointed, but even more for the boys who have been looking forward so much to be able to compete, said Wendy Kuan, General Manager of Singapore Floorball Association.

The IFF Central Board has earlier decided that, in the case of a qualification event being cancelled, the teams qualifying to the final round will be based on current rankings, which for the Men’s U19 AOFC group are as follows:

  1. Japan
  2. New Zealand
  3. Australia
  4. Singapore
  5. China

Based on these rankings, Japan, New Zealand, & Australia qualify for the Men’s U19 WFC 2021 in Brno, Czech Republic from 28th April – 2nd May 2021.
