An important part for the growth of floorball is the availability of equipment and today many consumers head for online stores. To meet the changing demands, the official IFF material partner UNIHOC, is now investing in more online stores.

Approximately one year ago, UNIHOC, opened its first web store. As a company of Swedish origin the first market that opened for online orders was Sweden. Now as the store has been open for a while UNIHOC will start opening up new markets.

As a global brand it is very important for us to have good distribution channels through retail shops and floorball specialist shops in all countries where we operate. In addition, it is important for us to provide floorball equipment in countries where it cannot be easily found and where the sport as well as our brand is perhaps not so widely known. With a web shop of our own it also gives us the possibility to present and offer our entire product assortment everywhere, since in many markets only a small part of our product range is usually available. This is a chance for us to raise our service level towards individual customers and their requests for any product in our range, says Johan Jihde, Brand Manager at UNIHOC.

As the Men’s World Floorball Championships (WFC) was supposed to take place in Helsinki, Finland this December the next step was to offer the web store for the Finnish market. Regardless of the postponement of the event to 2021 UNIHOC will keep to the original launch plan. The store opened on the 25th of October.

The Men’s WFC is the prime event of floorball and in 2020 it was meant to take place in Finland. The event creates enormous attention in the floorball world and therefore it was the obvious time to launch the Finnish web store, Jihde informs.

UNIHOC plans to continue opening up this possibility in more countries as they go along. Once a new market is operating smoothly they will be adding new countries for delivery. The next markets the manufacturer is aiming to open within the coming year will be more countries in Northern Europe.

Our fan survey indicated, less surprisingly, that floorball fans are very prone to purchasing products online. It is good to have large breadth of channels and service as it is of benefit for consumers, says Tero Kalsta, Sales Coordinator at the IFF.
