The Belgian Floorball Federation has supported the Cote d’Ivoire Floorball Federation through development work and equipment support. Recently, the referee instructor J.F. “Jihef” Greffe gave an online referee course to participants from Cote d’Ivoire.
Jihef introduced participants to the IFF Rules of the Game, the functioning of the match secretariat and the referee routine at matches. The course was held in French.
– The highly interactive course with 16 participants was streamed and recorded in Abobo (north of Abjdjan). A full success, the course provided an opportunity for an interesting cross-cultural exchange for both sides. The course recording will also be used for those who could not attend that day because of ongoing national protests, Jihef informs.
Jihef has refereed in Belgium since 2010 and also has considerable experience as a referee instructor for the Belgian Floorball Federation. He immediately agreed to support the Floorball Federation of Cote d’Ivoire, at the request of Marcel Wadja, the Cote d’Ivoire Floorball Federation President.
After the African Floorball Cup 2018, Jihef has supported Cote d’Ivoire with material (collected in Belgian clubs), as well as giving coaching and motivational tips. He visited Cote d’Ivoire and coached the players of the national team in view of the Qualifications 2020 in Poprad, Slovakia.
– Since adopting a 5-year development plan for Belgian referees in 2019, the BFF Referee Committee has been implementing structural changes in the training and development of referees. In this context, the Federation has been delighted to support the development of floorball with our friends from Cote d’Ivoire and we are already planning further online floorball courses with Cote d’Ivoire, says the Belgian Floorball Federation Secretary General Rossana Mäder.
