Insport Škofja Loka defends titles in the Slovenian Floorball League Final Four and the 3 Nations Floorball League when longest season ever comes to an end in Slovenia.

Due to the covid-19 circumstances, the Slovenian Floorball Federation’s executive board postponed remaining couple of rounds and Final Four (F4) of the Men’s national championship from spring to September.

Polanska Banda hosted the finals for the first time during the final weekend of September (last years the event was played as one final game, now in F4 format). First off was the highest ranked Insport Škofja Loka against Olimpija Ljubljana, who fought bravely, but their bench lacked depth and ultimately Olimpija Ljubljana lost clearly. The second semi-final was much more even, Polanska Banda provided a comeback at the start of the third period and built a four-goal lead against the second ranked Borovnica. The away team Borovnica made a huge effort to get even and came to one-goal difference in the 60th minute, but then missed the last shot during last seconds of the match.

Next day, Borovnica won bronze quite comfortably. In the final, Insport was the favourite, but Polanska Banda certainly had a plan of their own. Key moments happened in the last 28 seconds of the first period – first the home team closed the gap to one goal, but Insport managed to answer with two goals (including buzzer beater) for a 5-2 lead. From then on, Škofja Loka up-tempo style of play prevailed for the final result, 13-4, and the first consecutive national title since 2012.

The Individual player awards went to Anže Lebinger (Olimpija) as best scorer and Jan Eržen (Insport) as best goalkeeper.

 3 Nations Floorball League (NFL)

Similar to Slovenian F4, 3 Nations Floorball League (Austria, Hungary and Slovenia) F4 was postponed to autumn. Due to the ongoing border crossing restrictions, the Hungarian teams could however not travel to Škofja Loka, therefore the competition committee had to cancel the tournament.

The regular season rankings will therefore count as the final results:

  1. FBK Insport Škofja Loka
  2. Phoenix Fireball SE
  3. SZPK Floorball Team Komárom
  4. FBC Borovnica
  5. VSV Unihockey
  6. Wiener Floorball Verein
  7. Polanska Banda
  8. KAC Floorball
  9. Dunai Krokodilok SE

Best scorer and the league MVP is Robert Košir (Borovnica).

3 Nations Floorball League All Star Team

The coaches and team captains voted the All Star Team:

  • Forward: Robert Košir (BOR)
  • Forward: Luka Peklaj (INS)
  • Forward: Péter Pfneiszli (KOM)
  • Defender: Rok Korošec (BOR)
  • Defender: Tamás Rési (PHX)
  • Goalkeeper: Erik Hotz (PHX)

While it’s already known that season 20/21 will not take place as planned, IFL committee is working on a new schedule which will include league style competitions with Slovenian and Austrian teams. Hungarian teams are hopefully to join in later during the season for a tournament based competition.
