The Swedish Floorball Federation continues to strengthen its organisation. Stefan Jonasson, former Commercial Manager of AIK Football, has been recruited as the new Marketing and Event Manager. He joins the organisation to attract new partners and take marketing and event planning to the next level.

– My motto is that the partners who become part of Swedish Floorball should never be able to afford to leave. That’s how good it will be, he says in Swedish Floorball Federation’s press release.

53-year-old Stefan Jonasson has a lot of experience of working with partnerships, marketing and events. For the past seven years, he has worked within AIK Football, most recently as the Commercial Manager. On September 1st, he begins his new assignment for Swedish Floorball.

– Floorball is a fantastic sport that everyone can be a part of. I was attracted by the feeling that it would be incredibly interesting to be part of the journey that Swedish Floorball will make in the coming years, with its high goals for both breadth and elite, he says.

Jonasson’s focus areas will be strengthening the marketing side and attract new partners for Swedish Floorball, in combination with ensuring that the events hosted are always of the highest class, and will develop.

– Next year, Swedish Floorball will be 40 years old and then we will arrange, among other things, both the U19 WFC and the Women’s WFC in Uppsala. I see a clear opportunity to create a very large interest in floorball during 2021 and through that create a strong floorball brand in the long term. In addition, we need to work in the short term, to strengthen the brand for the Allsvenskan, among other things, he says and continues:

– Gender equality and development is something I am passionate about and it will be one of the key factors in getting partners to want to be part of the floorball journey in the coming years. We want our partners to really experience the sport and work closely with them. It becomes very important that everyone feels proud when they see floorball at all levels and our national teams at championships. My motto is that the partners who become part of Swedish Floorball should never be able to afford to leave. That’s how good it’s going to be.

Already in the 1980s, Jonasson was involved with floorball when he played with Sundbyberg in Stockholm, and met several of the then national team players around the country. He has also represented Ulriksdal, Huddinge, Råsunda and Caperio Täby.

– I have long felt that floorball deserves more space and attention. It is a folk sport that involves hundreds of thousands of people in Sweden. Now I am happy that I get an opportunity to be involved and influence that work. I have a large network in sports and partnerships, which I intend to continue to develop. But first and foremost, I will get to know my employees and colleagues, the key people within the Swedish Super League Association (FSSL), existing partners and go through existing agreements and planned arrangements to familiarise myself with the organisation’s current situation.

Swedish Floorball Federation’s new Secretary General Mikael Ahlerup has previously worked with Stefan Jonasson and knows that his ambitions, qualities and experiences will be an asset. Not only for the organisation but also for the districts and the FSSL.

– Stefan will be able to take Swedish Floorball’s brand and events to the next level, which we need. He will have an important role in the organisation that I have begun to review and develop. Swedish Floorball is for everyone and our journey to grow on all levels has just begun, he says.
