Special Olympics coaches and athletes from six Caribbean countries participated in a three day floorball camp organised in Kingston on January 24th – 26th 2020.

The camp focused on the floorball basics such as basic game plays and rules. The participants also learned about player roles and concept of time and space. Everyone was very eager to learn and participate.  The games were fun and lively with some great competition.

Participating countries were: St. Vincent, Aruba, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Guadelope, and the hosting country Jamaica. The Jamaican host country came out with first class opening and closing ceremonies. They took very good care of the coaches and players throughout the 3-day floorball event.

– We also had the honour to have the Jamaica Olympic Association President, Christopher Samuda at the closing ceremonies.  The Caribbean is very excited about floorball and the coaches cannot wait to take it back to their countries to involve others and share the love for the sport, says Jukka Kotti from the North Texas Floorball Association, who was the head coach at the camp in Jamaica.

The next aim is to have more Special Olympics floorball teams to enter regional floorball tournaments in USA.
