SZPK Komarom are the women’s champions of EuroFloorball Challenge 2019 after defeating Utrecht 4-2 in the final. In other matches, the men’s team from Utrecht took another win beating Viking Roma 7-2 and FBC Lemberg had a 10-5 victory over the local team Les Dragons Besancon.

The winner takes it all applied to the match between UFC Utrecht and SZPK Komarom with a EuroFloorball Cup 2020 ticket waiting for the winning side. Utrecht came into the match as favourites having been undefeated in the preliminary round and having beaten Komarom 7-4 in one of their group matches. Utrecht were first to score when #28 Loena van Rooijen found the net in the eleventh minute of play. The second period was full of end to end action but Komarom took control at the end and #23 Nora Susztak was the one to decide second period result for 3-2. In the last period #77 Nora Lelovics secured Komarom’s victory by scoring on penalty shot. Final numbers 4-2 for SZPK Komarom.

In the earlier match, Viking Roma showed fantastic composure in the first period and were leading Utrecht by two goals. The Dutch still had an outside chance at the top spot but needed the win to stay in the battle . They started nervously but after the first break they started to control the game and the second period ended with the scoreboard showing 5-2 in their favour. Unstoppable #14 Aron Piekema scored four goals and led Utrecht to their third win in the tournament. Final numbers 7-2 for Utrecht.

A bright start gave Les Dragons a two goal lead in just over two minutes of the game but Lemberg recovered from their slow start and levelled the score by the end of the period. After an exchange of goals in the second period, Lemberg knew, like Utrecht, they needed a win over Besançon to keep their chances of winning the tournament alive. Despite the loud crowd who was clearly in favour of Besancon, Lemberg settled their play and built a 9-5 lead after just 5 minutes of the last period. #12 Marian Hrabovyk managed to score one more goal and Lemberg won 10-5. Lemberg play Leganes tomorrow in a match that will decide the men’s winner.
