The season in the Polish leagues (Salming Extraleague) started earlier this month. The first games of the men´s league were played on 8th of September and women´s on 15th. The men´s league has 13 teams, divided into three regional groups and women´s league has 8 teams in two regional groups. The play-offs will follow in the second stage and Superfinals will be played in the end of the season.
Last season´s winner KS Górale Nowy Targ is a winner candidate for this season as well.
The Men´s league is expected to be more even than last season and more teams will be fighting for the medals. Still, the expected winners are from the last season´s top 4. This season´s winner candidates are IKS Gorący Potok Szarotka Nowy Targ, MUKS Zielonkat and last season´s winner KS Górale Nowy Targ.
Interesting transfer fact considers the team called UKS Wiatr Ludźmierz, which did not enter the Extraleague this season but lost most of its young talent to other teams. For example talents from the Polish national team like Daniel Widurski, Karol Pelczarski, Aleksander Hamrol, Jakub Słowakiewicz and Rafał Zacher transferred from UKS Wiatr Ludźmierz to KS Górale Nowy Targ and to IKS Gorący Potok Szarotka Nowy Targ.
Interplastic Olimpia Osowa Gdańsk won the women´s league last year.
In the women´s Salming Extraleague the last season´s winner Interplastic Olimpia Osowa Gdańsk is expected to be strong this season as well. The team has started well, winning their two first games. Other expected winners are also top teams from last season, namely MMKS Podhale Nowy Targ, KS Górale Nowy Targ and PKS MOS Zbąszyń. Interesting transfer from women´s side is Weronika Noga, who transferred to Swiss team Zug United from Interplastic Olimpia Osowa Gdańsk.
There might be two new contests this season, the League Cup and Polish Floorball Cup. Both events would be open to all teams from the Polish leagues and played with cup system. There is also a Facebook contest every weekend in which the participants are betting for the final results of the games and winners can get gadgets from Salming.
