Three games to be played during the second day of the WFCQ 2018 EUR3 in Latvia in Valmiera. Once again easy victories for Switzerland and Latvia.A draw Russia between Hungary, which makes the situation really interesting in the group.

Even though Iceland started the scoring in the game against Switzerland it was quite clear which of the teams was the one leading and showing the direction of the game. After the first period it wasn’t more than 4-1 to Switzerland and after two periods 10-2 for Switzerland.

In the third period the Swiss began to push it even harder and 12 goals in one period secures very easy 22-3 victory for the team Switzerland and took them one step closer to the WFC 2018 final round in Czech Republic in December.

Russia won yesterday against Iceland and every point would be very important for them to secure the spot in the final round. At 3.03 team Russia had a 2-0 lead against Hungary and that probably gave them the feeling that this would be an easy game for them to get two points. Hungarians thought differently and increased the speed and efforts, which eventually paid off and in the middle of the second period Hungary was even able to equalize the score to 5-5.

Russia scored two goals in the end of the second period and had the 7-5 lead before the last period. At 44.03 Hungary scored again and that gave them huge amount of extra energy and they were pushing really hard to score the equalizing goal, which they eventually did at 50.33. At 57.51 Hungary was awarded a penalty shot and Dennis Schmidt scored with an extraordinary zorro move and team Hungary had the grip of the victory, but Russia scored their 8th goal just 48 seconds later and the final result was a draw 8-8.

The last game of the day two in Latvia seemed to be just a question how many goals Latvia would score against Italy. After 11 minutes team Latvia already had a 5-0 lead there was not that much the Italians could do to ease the pain, even though team Italy never gave up. Two important points for Latvia after a 11-1 victory over the Italians.
