Wroclaw is busy getting ready for The World Games 2017 in July, and the IFF recently visited to meet with the local organising committee to help finalise preparations for Floorball.

IFF Secretary General, John Liljelund, and IFF Event Manager, Sarah Mitchell, spent two days visiting the WKK Arena, which will host the Floorball competition, as well as the Wroclaw Organising Committee´s (WOC) office. With just over three months until The World Games begin there was lots to discuss. The setup of the arena was confirmed, logistic details for transport and accommodation for the teams and IFF officials were planned, as well as discussing ideas for the promotion of Floorball in Wroclaw both before and during TWG.

As this is the first time that Floorball has been an official sport on The World Games program there are a lot of organisational matters that are new for the IFF. John Liljelund was very pleased with the meetings – “We were able to solve a lot of issues and are confident of delivering a world-class event in co-operation with WOC and the IWGA.”

The IFF met with staff from several organisational departments – accreditation, marketing, ceremonies, medical, sport, ticketing, and transport. With 31 different sports to plan for, all with their own individual needs for their competition and athletes, the logistics are enormous.

“The meetings we held were very beneficial for both the IFF & WOC. We were able to provide each other with essential information to assist our planning for the event in the coming months. It is clear that the organising committee are committed to helping Floorball, and all the sports, to deliver the best possible event. We are really looking forward to being part of TWG in July.”  Sarah Mitchell, IFF Event Manager
