Dear athletes, organizers, and guests of the EuroFloorball Cup,

It is with remarkable rapidity that floorball is gaining ground throughout Germany. Many clubs – especially in Eastern Germany – have a large share in this positive development. Therefore, I am glad to be patron of this year´s EuroFloorball Cup in Weißenfels.

Not only has Floorball become a fundamental part of the Special Olympics World Summer Games, making this sport accessible to handicapped people, but it is furthermore going to be represented in the upcoming World Games in July 2017. Reaching these milestones is proof that an immense amount of work and passion has been invested. All people behind this sport can be very proud of this serious progress.

My best wishes go to all participating teams, to all those many hardworking organizers and volunteers, as well as visitors. May you witness exciting days at the EuroFloorball Cup 2016 and let this fascinating sport grow and flourish in future.
